An introduction to Gilberts Transport

Our Company

Gilberts Transport was formed in 1992 by Husband & Wife team Jeff & Joanne Gilbert.

Starting with a fleet of 3.5 Tonne Mercedes Sprinters the company grew from strength to strength.

Then in 2017 their son Jack joined the team bringing fresh ideas to introduce 7.5 Tonne DAF’s to the fleet to accommodate the growing demands of the clients. Joanne and Jeff were apprehensive at 1st but gave the idea some rigorous thought.

In 2018 Gilberts Transport Obtained their operator’s licence and the company has grown exponentially from that point, securing 2 x 7.5 Tonne DAF rigid flatbeds with purpose built bodies designed and catered towards the loads they carry for their clients. Gilberts Transport’ customers took full advantage of this addition to the fleet and are showing a demand for more! 

Gilberts are pleased to announce the addition of an 18 Tonne DAF rigid flatbed to the fleet in December 2023! To meet the ever growing demands and needs.

Jeff & Joanne strongly believe that all their customers no matter how big or small must receive a reliable 1st class service for the best possible value for money. This strong belief is what forms the solid foundation that has helped the Company grow from strength to strength.

 

Our Commitment to you

We have a large client base at Gilbert Transport from the small Fabricating shop to Blue Chip Companies, many of whom have been with us since we began in 1992. 

We carry a large variation of goods such as plate, steel, lengths up to 12m, machine parts to Power Stations (normally parts which are required for breakdowns, where time is of the essence), Powder Coated and Polished goods whereby the materials must be protected in transit, so ensuring their good condition on arrival at their destination, as well as Timber and Timber sections for the building industry right down to small items that could easily be sent by courier but are delivered by us because when we say we will deliver at 4.30am etc. – WE WILL!

We are extremely proud to be big supporters of organisations and individuals in our local community. Below are a number of groups and organisations we have been involved in, contributed to, or raised funds for:

Help For Hero’s

–       Helping to provide recovery and support for the Armed Forces community whose lives are affected by their service, no matter when they served. Aiming to empower Veterans and Service Personnel to look beyond illness and injury. A charity that touches a very personal nerve for us at Gilberts after losing Joanne and Jeff’s nephew, CPRL Stephen Curley, in Afghanistan.

Cancer Research UK

–       This one hits very close to home to us so we always endeavour to give a substantial donation every year in lieu of customer gifts at Christmas time. We happily give these funds so that scientists, doctors and nurses can help beat cancer sooner and supply cancer information to the public.

Rob Burrows MBE

–          A Local Leeds Legend and former Leeds Rhinos Rugby League star that won’t Let MND bring him down!

Helping to raise money to create a ward for individuals in the community suffering from motor neuron disease. Working towards providing an improved standard of living for both carers and those living with MND. Our very own Director Jeff has a huge Passion for rugby League so was extremely keen to get involved and support Rob Burrows with this cause.

Motor Neurone Disease Association
This charity is close to the hearts of many of our clients therefore we have chosen to continue supporting and donating towards this very worthy cause.
These funds are being put to use directly promoting the research of MND endeavouring to find a cure. You can keep up to date with this on the MOTOR NEURON DISEASE ASSOCIATION website.

Kippax Masters
We are delighted to announce we are proud sponsors of ‘The Kippax Masters’ Rugby League team as of 2024! Kippax Masters are a social version of the sport that include players aged 35 +. This encourages exercise and social time for lovers of Rugby League in the local community and surrounding areas.

We always like to get involved with small events in the community, starting way back at the Gawthorpe Maypole in our Earliest days!
